Microsoft began to revise its Bing search engine, will display the search results in the form of three columns: the leftmost is the text-based search results; followed by the map, evaluation, and other information; rightmost is the biggest changes of the revision – a social friend catalog and related social information. Microsoft said the revision of Bing this time is in order to solve the problem of “search overload” – current search results page makes people feel tired, which is full of messy links, tools, social networking, maps and other information.

The first column all too familiar, is the most purely algorithm-based, text-based search results. The second column 150 different types of search results, including restaurants, transportation, cinema and hotel, display the map, evaluation and other information associated with it. The third column, also is the biggest thing of the revision, is a social friend catalog and relevant information list. Every time you search, Bing will automatically recommend friends on Facebook who related to the subject you are searching for, and related professionals from Twitter, Quora, LinkedIn, Google+ and Blogger.

Bing search director Stefan Weitz said the three-column structure of the new version respectively show “what the internet knows”,”what Bing knows”and “what friends know”.

The new search interface will first be launched in the United States officially in the next few weeks, and then to the world.
